Week 11 in Review...

Last week was so long ago. All I can remember is watching Alice in Wonderland on Friday. Alice Wonderland is a movie about a girl named Alice who falls asleep and she dreams about a bunny running around saying I'm late, I'm late, I'm late. She follows the bunny/rabbit down the bunny hole. As she falls down the bunny hole, she passes through a log, and as she gets to the bottom, she catches her feet on a pole and hangs upside down. In front of her she sees the white rabbit running away. He goes through a door, many doors, getting smaller & smaller & smaller. The last door brings her into a huge room, and she hears a door slam in front of her and she tries to open the door and the door goes ouchhhhhhhhhhhhh. The door knob was his nose! Alice changes sizes many times. Until she shrinks small enough to fit through the key hole.

Sarah's favorite part of the movie was when Alice meets the Chesire Cat. I like this part because the cat messes with Alice's mind...by playing mind games.

Austin's favorite part of the movie was when tweetle dee & tweetle dumb when they were telling Alice the story.

Jason's favorite part of the movie was when the mad Hatter freaks out about the tea party.

We can't wait to watch another movie!

Another highlight of last week was was Austin cooked the yummy yummy baked potato skins. They were potatoes that we baked, then halved. Austin scooped the potato out of the skin, filled the skin with cheese & bacon. Sour cream was available for those who wanted it.

Sarah's Simply Yummy Veggie Soup

This week's yummy lunch was the super delicious Vegetable Soup and Dumplings. It was a 97.5% rating this week. The soup had rice, onions, carrots, celery, dumplings, and tomatoes. Everybody who tried it had no lower than an 8 out of 10 score. Sarah was generous enough that she made gluten free dumplings. This was especially important for Mrs. Sorrell. Mrs. Fine & Mrs. Spring-Cecil benefited as well.

Good Job Sarah!

Update Week #10

We have finished our Lake Champlain reports, Scary Stories & our Lake Champlain presentations. This week we started studying the war against the British. We have looked at the weapons they used, how many have fought. We watched a video, we listened to people fighting & talking about the Boston Tea Party. We will be watching more videos about this.

Today in Literacy, we drew a comic about our books we have read so far. We used a website called Comic Creator, which is part of the ReadWriteThink website. We also looked at a trading card creator. We need to do it for Response to Literature. Middle Schoolers are expected to read 20 books by the end of the year!

We are going to watch Alice in Wonderland tomorrow!

Goodbye Viewers!

Week 7

Last Week (10/11/10-10/15/10) we had to do NECAP’s testing. On Friday, for an positive celebration for the class we watched Flushed Away. It was about a pet rat from England who is left home alone for a week but when an annoying rat from the drain arrives he gets flushed down a toilet. He ends up in a totally different place under the ground and meets a female sewer rat named Rita who is in BIG trouble because she stole something from a toad. In the movie Rita helps the rat get back to his home where he belongs and he helps her out with her situation with the toads.

This week (10/18/10- 10/20/10) we had a short week. There is no school on Thursday or Friday. We are super excited that we get a break. We also get to have a normal Friday but yet it is Wednesday. This means the point store will be open and we have check in with the teachers about the week.

Have a great weekend!

September

What a wonderful year we have started.  We have spent the month of September getting to know each other and establishing a community in our new classroom.  We have been working on fractions and reading independent novels.  We took two trips to Mills Riverside Park and have cooked lunch two weeks in a row.  Our class is small, just three students and two adults but we are excited about the fun things that we can do.  Starting soon we will have weekly reports and pictures to share the fun activities that we will be doing.

October will bring a scary stories and fun autumn activities.  I can't wait!!
